Rethinking Operator Experience and Machine Interaction

Valtra, a leading global tractor brand and part of the AGCO Corporation, has partnered with spogen.ai to pilot the next evolution in smart farming. Known for delivering easy-to-use, reliable solutions and highly customized tractors that are tough on the outside and smart on the inside, Valtra is exploring new ways to support farmers with their machine operations. This AI solution aims to support farmers, maintenance personnel, and brand representatives.

The initial steps of this pilot were undertaken as part of the EIT Food Test Farms Programme, run by JAMK University of Applied Sciences Biocampus, using a Valtra N Series tractor and a Väderstad seed drill. The project continued with user interviews and demonstrations at the OKRA 2025 farm fair.

Showing the Way to the Whole Industry – Again

Valtra has a strong legacy of introducing innovations that become industry benchmarks. From its early roots to today's smart farming solutions, Valtra continues to lead by example. The pilot with spogen.ai underscores this forward-looking mindset: together, the companies are testing a tractor experience where intelligent systems enhance not just machine performance, but also farmer decision-making, productivity, and user experience.

“We were impressed with what spogen.ai has done in implementing our documentation of the N Series tractors to their Smart Assistant as a part of a field pilot with the EIT Food Test Farms Programme showcased at AgriVenture 2025 Finland. The technology shows great promise and we want to explore how to take it to the next level”, said Mika Sormunen, Manager of Data & Analytics at Valtra EME.

Joonas Koivuniemi, CEO and Co-Founder of spogen.ai is excited for the partnership: “Valtra is a trailblazer in their field, and we’re incredibly proud and honored to be able to work with them in another industry first with such a pioneer.”

Powered by spogen.ai: Working Together to Elevate the Farmers’ Potential

At the heart of the cooperation is spogen.ai’s Smart Assistant, a next-generation AI-driven interface tailored for heavy machinery.

Smart Assistant introduces a new layer of hands-free, voice-enabled interaction that seamlessly integrates with Valtra’s machinery’s smart capabilities. Key features include:

  • Context-aware guidance for efficient, informed operation
  • Step-by-step visual instructions drawn from manuals and diagnostic information
  • Automated checklists for maintenance, safety, and troubleshooting

Gathering feedback from the real experts

In the beginning of July, spogen.ai joined Valtra at the AGCO Suomi stand at OKRA 2025, one of the largest farm fairs showcasing farming machinery and innovation, where the companies gathered feedback from the farmers and contractors, as well as Valtra experts that support the end users from configuring their new tractors to helping them in operating their high-tech machinery.

The user interviews and spontaneous feedback gathered from OKRA 2025 confirmed that there is a real need for this kind of innovation. The event offered valuable insights from key stakeholders across the board.

Farmers saw the potential in using conversational AI to optimize their work, especially when using advanced features they don’t typically access in daily tasks. The assistant’s ability to highlight and simplify these interactions stood out as a meaningful improvement to their day-to-day efficiency.

The Valtra experts, who know their machines inside and out, made a deliberate effort to challenge the assistant and found it surprisingly insightful and resilient.

Maintenance and spare parts professionals noted the time-saving potential in locating technical information quickly, both for their own work and when supporting end users.

Trainers and sales teams also saw new opportunities. Trainers appreciated how the Smart Assistant could streamline onboarding and reduce support load. Meanwhile, sales pros were intrigued by the possibility of using the assistant to tailor tractor configurations to customer needs more effectively.

During the discussions and tests the spogen.ai and Valtra teams also identified several opportunities in improving the functionalities within the Smart Assistant to provide an even better user experience to make a tool embraced daily by operators, maintenance professionals and support teams alike. There is an opportunity in unifying the entire value chain around ease and efficiency.

“We see this opportunity to cooperate as a sign that our technology, and the vision it’s based on, are on the right path. We were wowed by the very positive feedback from the trade fair visitors and Valtra on what we did with the N Series manuals and we’re looking forward to taking the next steps in close cooperation”, said Natalia Leinonen, CTO and Co-Founder of spogen.ai.

Moving the Industry Forward

The joint test between Valtra and spogen.ai isn’t about adding features—it’s about exploring the way people interact with agricultural technology. In a time when efficiency, sustainability, and ease of use are more important than ever, the joint goal is to take another meaningful step toward even more intelligent, connected farming.
